Cheese and Broccoli Tarts Recipe

(serves 4)
Ingredients

Shortcrust pastry (3oz plain flour, 1 1/2 oz butter)
2oz grated Gruyere cheese
2 fl oz single cream
2 fl oz skimmed milk
2 medium eggs
1/2 oz melted butter
2-3 tbsps finely chopped broccoli
pinch of salt

Method

1. These cheese and broccoli tarts are easy to make and taste wonderful. Firstly preheat the oven to around 190C/200C.

2. Grease four small patty tins (around 4inch in size).

3. Roll out the pastry to a medium thickness and cut out four rounds. Place the pastry rounds into each of the greased patty tins, brush the pastry with the melted butter and pop into the fridge for 20 minutes.

4. Remove tins from the fridge and divide the broccoli between the four pastry cases, then divide the Gruyere cheese between them also.

5. In a bowl mix together the eggs, milk, cream and add a pinch of salt, then place this mixture equally over the broccoli and cheese.

6. Place the patty tins onto a baking tray and place in the centre of the oven for around 25-30 minutes or until nicely browned on top.
