I like to make soup. I tend to make soup more during the winter months as they are often full of hearty vegetables and warming from the inside out.
Potato and leek was my favorite, but I’ve recently discovered a tomato soup recipe that has quickly taken its place as my number one soup dish. You really can’t beat a lovely soup served with crusty bread or croutons on a cold winters day!
When making soup it’s important to have a good quality blender. A hand blender is sufficient for most soups (and other jobs too).
The hand blender I want to tell you about is the Cuisinart CSB-76 SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender.
It’s currently selling on Amazon.com at just under $30. Which is not going to break the bank and is an excellent pricepoint for a Christmas gift for the cook in your family.
As you can see from the picture above it looks really neat. The brushed chrome finish is stylish and the ergonomic shape of the body makes it easy to hold.
But, it’s best not to get hooked up on looks and styling. What’s more important is what it does and how well it works.
Here is a list of the features of the Cuisinart CSB-76 and what comes in the box:
- Powerful 200-watt motor
- A blade that provides smooth blending
- Protective guard that helps prevent splattering
- Simple push-button controls
- Lightweight design
- One-handed operation
- Dishwasher safe
- Two cup plastic beaker
- Dimensions – 3 x 3 x 14.2 inches (approx)
- Three year limited warranty
Everything you need to purée soups, blend drinks or mix crêpe batter.
What I like most about this hand blender is that it does what it was designed to do and it does it very well. It’s powerful, it’s easy to store and it’s easy to clean.
