Macaroni with Cheese Sauce Recipe
200g macaroni
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup plain flour
2 rashers of chopped bacon
1 onion, chopped
60g butter
1. Preheat oven to 180C. Add the macaroni to a large pan of boiling water and cook until tender.
2. Melt butter in a large pan, add bacon and onion, stir over medium heat for 4 minutes or until onions are tender and golden.
3. Add the flour and stir over low heat for 1 minute. Add milk and stir until smooth. Continue stirring for a further 4 minutes or until mixture thickens and boils. Remove from the heat and stir in the nutmeg.
4. Add pasta and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese to the pan. Stir until all the mixture is combined well. Spoon into a 1 1/2 litre oven proof dish.
5. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top and bake for around 20 minutes.
6. Serve and enjoy!
Thanks for the recipe, I think nutmeg will add some extra flavor in the sauce, I’m going to try it.
